Contacts get alerts for every monitor in your account, unless you turn alerts off for a monitor. Your account e-mail is the first contact.
When DataDad sends an alert
- Down: a check fails twice, 2 seconds apart. For a cron job monitor, the next ping is late.
- Up again: a later check passes. The alert shows how long the monitor was down.
- Expiry warnings for SSL certificates and domains.
Each contact gets at most 20 alerts an hour.
Add a contact
- Open Uptime, then Alerts.
- Under Contacts, choose the kind of contact: E-mail, Discord, Google Chat or Push.
- For an e-mail, enter the address and select Add contact. DataDad sends the person a link. Alerts start after they confirm it within 24 hours.
When you add a monitor, the Alerts step of the setup offers the same channels.
You can have up to 10 contacts.
Change a contact
Each contact on the Alerts page has these controls:
- Recovery: turn off the "up again" alert for this contact.
- Test: send a test alert to this contact only.
- Pause and Resume: stop alerts for a while. A paused e-mail that you added confirms again before it resumes.
- The bin icon removes the contact. Your account e-mail can be paused, but not removed.
Every alert e-mail has an unsubscribe link. It pauses that contact.
Turn alerts off for one monitor
The Monitors card on the Alerts page lists every monitor with a bell. Select a monitor's bell to turn its alerts off or on. A switch turns a whole project, or all monitors, on or off. Checks and history continue when alerts are off.
You can also use the switch in Alerts for this monitor on the monitor page.
Send a test alert
Select Send test alert at the top of the Alerts page. Recent alerts shows the last 20 alerts and whether each one was delivered.
