A website monitor sends a request to one URL on a schedule. Use it for home pages, shops, sign-in pages and API health endpoints.
Add a website monitor
- Open Uptime and select Add monitor.
- Keep Website or API selected, then select Continue.
- Enter the address, for example
example.com/health. HTTPS is assumed. - Optionally open Check page content and enter a keyword the page must contain, or must not contain.
- Select Check now. DataDad checks the address, and the keyword, and shows the answer and the response time.
- Choose how often to check it, then select Continue and choose where alerts go.
A new domain becomes a new website in your project. To rename a monitor, open it, then Settings.
How a check works
- DataDad sends a
GETrequest. A final status from 200 to 299 is up. - Each attempt has 5 seconds, including the DNS lookup and redirects.
- DataDad follows up to 5 redirects, as long as they stay on the project's domain.
- A failed attempt is tried again after 2 seconds. The monitor is down only when both attempts fail.
- The response time is the time until the response headers arrive.
When a check cannot run, for example because of a problem on our side, the result is "No result". It does not count as down and does not send an alert.
Check now
Every monitor has a Check now button. It runs the same check at once and shows the result on the page. A manual check does not change the history and does not send alerts. It also works while the monitor is paused.
Change the interval
Open the monitor, then Settings. Under Check every, choose 5 minutes or 1 minute. Checks every minute need Solo. See Free and Solo plans.
Pause or delete a monitor
On the monitor's Settings tab:
- Pause checks stops the checks. The history stays, and paused time does not count toward uptime.
- Delete URL deletes the monitor and its history.
