Start monitoring your website

Create a DataDad account, add your first website and choose who gets alerts. It takes about two minutes.

Updated

DataDad checks your website around the clock and tells you when it goes down. The Free plan includes 50 monitors that check every 5 minutes, with a year of history.

Create your account

  1. Open data.dad/uptime and select Start monitoring.
  2. Enter your e-mail address and a password, then select Create account. Or select Email me a sign-up link to sign up without a password.
  3. Open the e-mail from DataDad within 30 minutes and confirm your address. If you open it on another device, enter the password you chose.

Add your first website

After you confirm your e-mail, DataDad opens a short setup with four steps.

  1. Type. Keep Website or API selected, then select Continue. The other types are for scheduled jobs, servers and ports.
  2. Website. Enter your address, such as example.com. To also check what the page says, open Check page content and enter a keyword. DataDad checks it at once and shows the answer and the response time. Choose how often to check it, then select Continue.
  3. Alerts. Your account e-mail gets alerts already. Under Add a channel, you can add a teammate's e-mail, Discord, Google Chat or push notifications on this device. Choose whether you also want an alert when the website is back up.
  4. Finish. The summary shows what DataDad checks and who gets alerts. Select Send a test alert to see an alert arrive.

Each step has a Back link. If you go back to the website step and change the address, DataDad changes the monitor you created. It does not add a second one.

What happens next

DataDad checks your website on schedule from now on. When a check fails twice in a row, 2 seconds apart, the monitor is down and your contacts get an alert. When a later check passes, they get a recovery alert.

To add more monitors, open Uptime, then Add monitor. The same setup opens, so you can choose the type again.
