Google Chat alerts

Post uptime alerts to a Google Chat space with a webhook.

Updated

DataDad posts down, up-again and expiry alerts to a Google Chat space. Webhooks need a Google Workspace account, and your administrator may need to allow them.

Create a webhook in Google Chat

  1. In Google Chat, open the space that should get alerts.
  2. Select the space name, then Apps & integrations.
  3. Select Webhooks, then Add webhooks. Name it, for example DataDad, and save.
  4. Copy the webhook URL. It starts with https://chat.googleapis.com/v1/spaces/.

Add it to DataDad

  1. Open Uptime, then Alerts.
  2. Under Contacts, select Google Chat.
  3. Paste the webhook URL and select Add Google Chat.

DataDad posts a test message to the space. The contact is saved when Google Chat accepts it.

If you delete the webhook

When Google Chat no longer accepts the webhook, DataDad pauses the contact. Add a new webhook to continue.
